My future should have been bleak. But I decided to change it...

It took me a long time. It wasn’t easy and I can totally understand why many people are happy as they are.

But some of the things which happened to me at a very young age have made me determined and compelled to make sure neither me or my family could ever be in that position.

Over many decades, I built successful businesses in the world of finance, property and motor sport. I developed a parallel career in journalism, broadcasting, commentating and P.R., as well as achieving numerous motor racing successes in the UK and Europe over a 30 year period.

I now live in the South Cotswolds in my dream home with my lovely wife Jane, three horses, Humphrey the cat and a garage full of cars. I still race cars, do a bit of amateur ski racing and decided some time ago, I would rather burn out than rust out.

I’ll probably never retire as many might long to, because I love the buzz I get from achieving, trying new things and above all, making people happy.

You’ll learn why this little bit of paper I wrote on when I was 15, took on a far greater significance than you might imagine.

My pal and I built this little motorised kart when we were 15. The lessons we learnt from doing so were intrinsic in my future success. Learn why and what they were.

The story of this little car, which we managed to acquire 2 years before we were old enough to drive legally, provides more life lessons, the legacy of which is still with me today.

This is me on onboard our kart – the Brookland’s Bomb. Why was this little project so important to me at such a young age?

My original design drawing for the Brookland’s Bomb. What did this teach me and why is it so important to develop a passion from a young age?
